The equal split mode divides the total — including tip and tax — evenly between every person. The custom split mode lets each person enter what they ordered, then adds their proportional share of tip on top.

Tip etiquette: In the US, 18–20% is the standard for sit-down restaurants. 15% is acceptable, and anything below signals dissatisfaction with the service. For large groups (6+), many restaurants automatically add an 18–20% gratuity — always check the bill before adding additional tip.

On splitting unevenly: Some people order more, some less. The custom split removes the social awkwardness by doing the math cleanly — everyone sees exactly what they owe with tip included, no debates required.
