How Military Time Works
Military time — also called the 24-hour clock — runs from 0000 (midnight) to 2359 (one minute before the next midnight). Unlike the 12-hour clock, it never repeats a number, which eliminates AM/PM confusion entirely. That's why it's used by the military, hospitals, aviation, and railways worldwide.
Converting is simple. For times from 0000 to 1159, you're in AM territory — just read the hours directly and drop any leading zero. 0730 is 7:30 AM. For times from 1300 to 2359, subtract 12 from the hours to get PM. 1430 becomes 2:30 PM. The two exceptions: 1200 is always noon (12:00 PM) and 0000 is always midnight.
